Terms of Service
The agreement between you and WardSafe when you use WardSafe.
Last updated 9 August 2026
Two things we will not bury in the fine print
WardSafe is not a life-safety system. It can miss or misidentify sounds. Never rely on it in place of working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, or certified alerting equipment.
WardSafe is not a medical device. It does not diagnose anything. Its developmental ranges are population context, not a screening test.
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, signing into, or using WardSafe you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Who may use WardSafe
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You must be the parent or legal guardian of any child you set up a profile for, and you must have the authority to consent on their behalf.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account.
3. Recording others, and consent
WardSafe analyses sound in the space around the device, which may include the voices of other people. You are responsible for using it lawfully.
- Tell the adults in your household that the app is listening, and get their agreement.
- Do not use WardSafe to monitor anyone covertly, or anywhere with a reasonable expectation of privacy that you have no right to override.
- Laws about recording and monitoring differ by country and by state, and some require the consent of everyone present. Complying with them is your responsibility.
The app does not record audio, which reduces but does not eliminate this obligation — derived transcripts of what people said can still be personal information about them.
4. Not a life-safety system
WardSafe is an assistive tool. It may fail to detect a sound, identify one incorrectly, or not run at all — for example if the device is off, out of battery, muted at the system level, has its microphone obstructed or claimed by another app, or if iOS suspends the app.
Do not use WardSafe as your only means of being alerted to fire, carbon monoxide, intrusion, a medical emergency, or the needs of a child or dependent adult. It is intended to add a channel of awareness alongside working alarms and certified equipment, never to replace them.
5. Not medical advice
The vocabulary counts, sentence-length figures, babble stages, and age-referenced ranges in WardSafe are estimates produced by automated analysis. They are frequently wrong in individual cases. They are not a diagnosis, a screening instrument, or a substitute for professional assessment.
Speech and language development varies enormously between children, and population ranges can be actively misleading for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, children who sign, and children raised with more than one language. Talk to a pediatrician or a speech-language pathologist about your child. Never delay seeking advice because of something this app showed you.
6. Your account and your data
You keep all rights in the content and data associated with your account. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store and sync it so we can provide the service to you.
You may delete your data or your account at any time from within the app. How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app unlawfully, or to harass, surveil, or harm anyone.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Interfere with the service, probe its security, or access accounts that are not yours.
- Resell or redistribute the app or its output as your own service.
8. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WardSafeis provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WardSafe is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a sound the app failed to detect or identified incorrectly, or from reliance on its developmental estimates.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Apple and the App Store
These terms are between you and WardSafe only — not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, or resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government restricted-party list.
12. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the app in a way that risks harm to others or to the service.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Your state / country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence continue to apply.
